Leadership, management, and governance support for think tanks

Given the importance of strong leadership, management, and governance in building and sustaining effective organizations, the think Tank Initiative (TTI) has developed an Organizational Leadership, Management, and Governance Fund for TTI-funded institutions. This fund provides an opportunity for think tanks to take advantage of additional support from TTI to strengthen their leadership, organizational management, and governance to position them for organizational resilience and long-term sustainability when TTI ends in 2019. The fund aims to complement the core funding and other supplementary support provided to achieve their long-term organizational change objectives. Each TTI-supported organization prioritized its greatest needs against three categories for targeting support: executive directors or senior management; staff who have been identified in succession planning processes in the face of impending executive director retirement or departure; and new or existing board or assembly members with a need/desire to strengthen their governance skills and competences. This project covers assistance to the following TTI grantees: Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (Nepal), the trustees of the Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (India), BRAC University (Bangladesh), the Public Affairs Centre (India), the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (Pakistan), the Centre for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (India), the Centre for Policy Dialogue (Bangladesh), the Indian Institute of Dalit Studies, and the National Council of Applied Economic Research (India). The Think Tank Initiative (TTI) is a multi-funder program dedicated to strengthening independent policy research institutions, or think tanks, in developing countries. The program aims to enhance their ability to provide sound research that informs and influences policy. This second TTI phase (2014‒2019) will fund 43 institutions, helping them consolidate their role as credible development actors in their countries, and in some cases, regionally and internationally.
