F.a: Skills training and Technical Education for Employment Programme

There is a huge gap between the demand and supply of skilled man power in domestic market. The lack of employment opportunities, insufficient vocational skills training opportunities are pushing unemployed youths for out-migration. They get low remuneratio n and are prone to accidents as they are mostly engaged in Danger, Difficult and Dirty (3D) jobs. Therefore, these unemployed rural youths need to be trained on emerging trades to sharpen their skills for their earnings and livelihoods. This will contribut e to increased remunerations and job security. New opportunities have been waiting for the skilled youths within their own districts, regional markets, Indian markets as well as abroad markets. The project aims at enhancing access of women and youths to qu ality vocational skill training and technical education by strengthening technical vocational education and training (TVET) sub-sector in Nepal.Activities: • Identify potential employable trades • Impart vocational skill development training among wome n and youth• Building the capacity of free Haliya, ex-Kamaiya and Kamlari community based organisation (CBOs) in TVET sub–sector• Establish skill training center in far west remote areas of Nepal• Support duty-bearers to prepare / revise and implem ent TVET policies, guidelines, strategies and plans effectively• Establish functional TVET sub-sector knowledge management network• Linking learning with earning through small scale enterprises and gainful employment• Document, publish and disseminat e knowledge of TVET sub-sectorRights-holders /beneficiaries: Unemployed women and youth Implementing partner: Underprivileged Children’s Education Programs (UCEP Nepal)
