Hamro Samman (HS)
(Nepal): USAID's works to Combat Trafficking in Persons (CTIP) through the Hamro Samman (HS) activity that partners with the GON, civil society, and private sector partners to strengthen key relationships among stakeholders. The lack of coordination among the GON, civil society, and private sector, combined with the dearth of effective data collection and sharing among stakeholders continues to make Nepal an attractive environment for traffickers, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. HS will use $1,500,000 of FY 2021 CTIP-earmarked funds and $100,000 of the Women, Peace and Security directive to: strengthen an integrated data collection system at the national and sub-national levels; provide technical assistance to national and local CTIP committees and help CSOs with data collection, analysis, and communication; facilitate information sharing among CSOs, government, and law enforcement; form private sector partnerships to expand access to quality services for trafficking survivors and at-risk groups; strengthen CTIP advocacy plans; provide shelter and counselling services for the reintegration of trafficking victims; and expand access to legal resources for survivors. In response to COVID-19, HS will equip shelters with materials needed for infection prevention and control to protect the resident survivors and other shelter staff from infection. .Winrock International is best placed to meet USAID's goals in CTIP as it has 30 years of experience working with governments to leverage CTIP data through evidence-based policy and survivor services. By strengthening national and local level CTIP capacity, Nepal will be better able to disrupt criminal networks, reduce rights violations, and decrease regional and U.S. bound trafficking and human smuggling. HS supports Embassy Kathmandu's ICS Goal One: Promote American Security by supporting a stable, secure, democratic and sovereign Nepal..
