OCHA is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response effort. OCHA's mission is to: Mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies. Advocate the rights of people in need. Promote preparedness and prevention. Facilitate sustainable solutions. A world that comes together to help crisis-affected people rapidly get the humanitarian assistance and protection they need. We advocate for effective and principled humanitarian action by all, for all.
The Needs Assessment and Analysis Section (NAAS) is part of OCHA's Assessment, Planning & Monitoring Branch (APMB) which supports effective emergency response around the key elements of the program cycle including preparedness, assessment, monitoring and consolidated appeals. NAAS is responsible for supporting OCHA and inter-agency partners to carry out coordinated and joint assessments in emergency contexts.

Open Nepal is a knowledge hub and a learning space for organizations and people that produce, share and use data for development or are interested to learn more about open data. By bringing together a community of practice in Nepal around topics such as the open data and access to information, Open Nepal forms a platform for people to share their experiences of using and sharing data and information, take collective action and generate solutions to common problems. The Community of Practice and Knowledge Hub contribute towards an enabling environment and build a movement for the sharing and use of (open) data for development in Nepal.
