CARE Nepal, as part of our larger COVID-19 response program has planned to implement the Purnima COVID WASH Response initiative to reduced risk of potential COVID 19 outbreak through improved WASH facilities

The overall objective is as to support the recovery of people in disaster-affected areas through the improvement of physical WASH facilities; increasing the promotion of safe personal, household and community hygiene and sanitation practices in order to reduce the prevalence of water borne diseases; improve quality of life and increase the availability of information on water sources and other related WASH components in the target VDCs.

This project aims to build trust between poor and marginalised communities, in particular vulnerable groups within those communities, and formal and informal justice providers, in order to enable marginalised populations to access fair and equitable justice.

This Rapid Community WASH Recovery project aims to meet the ongoing WASH needs of vulnerable and marginalised groups in disaster-affected districts in order to support their recovery. Implemented through an experienced consortium of INGOs offering high value for money with existing presence, experience, resources and relationships in the target areas, the project seeks to support local and national government recovery plans to build back better and more resilient and equitable water schemes and WASH infrastructure. Using a highly participatory and accountable approach and specific focus on vulnerable and marginalised groups, the project will build local capacity to plan, construct and manage safe, adequate and resilient water schemes, as well as increasing local knowledge to promote positive WASH behaviours.

Winterisation support for 35,000 vulnerable women, girls, boys and men to improve emergency/temporary shelters? resistance to winter weather in three of the most earthquake-affected Districts, and supporting safe spaces for women and girls.
