Reintegrating Nepalese Child Domestic Workerscompleted
There are more than 60,000 child domestic workers under the age of 14 in Nepal. The majority are girls living in poor conditions, without education, isolated from their families and who are vulnerable to physical and sexual abuse. This project will return over a thousand ‘live-in' child domestic workers to their families, and will protect thousands more children at risk of entering domestic work. They will work with employers, law enforcers, teachers and policy-makers to reduce demand for child domestic workers, while at the same time working in sending areas with families and communities to ensure children are able to continue living in stable, family environments with access to quality services. As a result, fewer children will face having to work in domestic service and duty bearers will be better able to address this issue in the long term.
