REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST ( REOI) (SELECTION OF AN INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT ) Geological Expert (Date of first publication: November 29, 2024) NEPAL Project Preparation Facility (PPF) Loan No./Credit No./ Grant No.: IDA V501-NP Assignment Title: To advise/support Upper Arun Hydroelectric Limited in the Geological and Geotechnical matters Reference No .: PPF/ UAHEL/S/IND-9 (Geological expert) The Government of Nepal has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Project Preparation Facility (PPF ) and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services. The consulting services (“the Services”) include supervising and monitoring geological and geotechnical field surveys and investigations, analyzing geological, geotechnical information, maps, tests report and surveys. The Geological expert shall provide input to design and stability analysis of surface and sub-surface works. The Geological expert shall supervise and monitor construction activities at project sites and the construction of Access Road with full-time input spanning 24 months . Expected start date of assignment is January 2025. The Upper Arun Hydroelectric Limited, now invites eligible national individuals (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services (attach curriculum vitae with description of experience in similar assignments, similar conditions, etc.). The criteria for selecting the Consultant are: Required Qualifications : The expert must have Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering/Engineering Geology or a related field with 20 years of experience. Required Specific Experience (relevant to assignment ): 10 years of specific experience in the field of geological investigation, design and construction supervision of hydropower or water resources projects and/or underground projects involving underground caverns, tunnels, shafts etc. The expert must have minimum 10 years of experience in at least two hydropower projects. He/she should preferably have an experience as Chief geologist in detailed design, and/or construction supervision of hydropower projects of minimum capacity of 100 MW. Extensive experience in conducting geotechnical investigations for hydropower projects or similar infrastructure projects is essential. The expert should be proficient in interpreting Geotechnical Baseline Report (GBR), Geological Data Report (GDR), geological and geotechnical data and providing practical recommendations. International exposure will be an added advantage . The consultant should be registered in VAT in compliance with the prevailing VAT Rules in Nepal.
